As our governors and legislatures became prostitutes for federal money, they have unwittingly given up their constitutional authority. <br /><br />Our protection from federal oppression, as citizens, derives directly from the Tenth Amendment and state constitutions; our founding fathers were bright enough to see the value of this, our modern leaders (written with sarcasm) lack this intellectual clarity. <br /><br />As with Gov. Sanford (SC), Perry believes the federal government does not have the right to obligate their states to the long-term consequences of the so-called stimulus package. I think they are responsible to be concerned about that, but the remedy is solidarity with state legislators and voters, to take such issues to the courts.
