In a battle of wits up against Fox News Channel's Megyn Kelly, Gallagher never had a chance. It seems Gallagher has a problem with maternity leave for new mothers.
The brouhaha began during Kelly's own maternity leave this spring. While she was out, Gallagher said on his radio show that maternity leave is a "racket," and claimed men don't get a break when they have a kid.
Gallagher was apparently unfamiliar with the Family and Medical Leave Act, which guarantees workers of any gender, who meet certain other criteria, up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the birth and care of a newborn, or the placement of an adopted or foster child.
Gallagher still appeared ignorant of the law on Monday, when Kelly took him to task for his remark.
Not only is Kelly a working mother but she's a lawyer, too. Gallagher, stuck in the 1950's was left behind in her dust during the exchange.
Somewhere a village is missing its idiot.
