Super Bowl at the White House

Here is the menu of food and drinks served at the White House Super Bowl party:
– Bratwurst
– Kielbasa
– Cheeseburgers
– Deep Dish Pizza
– Buffalo Wings
– German Potato Salad
– Twice Baked Potatoes
– Snyders Potato Chips and Pretzels
– Chips and Dips
– Salad
– Ice Cream
– Beverages including the following beers: Hinterland Pale Ale & Amber Ale (from Wisconsin), Yuengling Lager and Light (from Pennsylvania) and White House Honey Ale.

Sounds good to me, but I haven't made my signature cause that of healthy eating for families. Not to be too strident here but shouldn't the White House have made a bit of an effort to at least include some fresh veggies with that chips and dips offering? I know they are courting the Wisconsin and Pennsylvania votes but surely the folks in those two states eat vegetables, like the rest of the country.

Critics of this blog post will say I'm being too hard here. I will say, however, if your sole signature issue as First Lady is to get on a healthy eating and exercise crusade for children and families, maybe each time the menu is published for the public to view it should look more in line with the agenda. Remember the Thanksgiving menu? Maybe some every day menus should be published to lead with a good example instead of every time we read one, it is not so good. Plus each food outing of Obama on the road or with guests is held at a burger joint. Pictures of burgers and fries being consumed flourish in the news.

Just an observation to ponder.
