I Just Can't Quit You, Paul McCartney

The last time I wrote about a childhood crush, Beatle Paul McCartney, it was not of compliments and gratitude from a long time fan. I was irritated about his insertion into the political discourse of the day and his bashing of former President Bush in a random ad lib during a White House performance for President Obama. It was a petty and self-serving thing to do.

Now, however, on this day, I find myself softening up again and feeling warm thoughts for the guy. Why? He was married today and it looks as though he has found his mind again. I have renewed hope for him.

She appears to be a lovely, mature, productive woman. Emphasis on mature.

This wife is more in line with McCartney's age and she's independently wealthy, so no gold digging worries here.

Shevell, who is independently wealthy, was married for more than 20 years to attorney Bruce Blakeman and serves on the board of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She also is a vice president of a lucrative New Jersey-based trucking company owned by her father.

It was a civil ceremony reminiscent of the one conducted in the same place for McCartney and his first wife, the love of his life and also an American, Linda. A reception was to be held in McCartney's home afterwards.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney and American heiress Nancy Shevell were married on Sunday, emerging joyously from a 45-minute civil marriage ceremony to be showered with confetti from fans.

The bride wore a dress designed by Stella McCartney, successful designer daughter of the groom. He and she have known each other for 20 years and socialized as couples in their first marriages. Shevell is a cousin of Barbara Walters.

Who doesn't enjoy a love story?
