Sarah Palin? You Betcha.

"Some day, we will look back with disgust at the abuse Palin has taken and wonder how it could happen in this great nation, circa 2008."

That is a quote from The New York Daily News.

Go read Marie's account of her close encounter with Sarah Palin at the rally from Carson, California yesterday - the one that is used over and over on cable news channels for Palin's remarks on the friendships of Barack Obama.

Even after the VP debate, where Joe Biden was caught in 14 bold face lies, Sarah Palin is vastly underestimated. To hear the media in this country, all but the brave outed conservatives say Biden won. What a farce. Palin did more than show up and not make a big boo-boo, she owned her side of the stage. She even caused Joe Biden to channel Al Gore with the exaggerated sighs. Biden, freshly botoxed and coiffed, looked right into the camera and lied about John McCain's record. Did he think, with his long, long, long record in the U.S. Senate - longer than John McCain - that no one would notice his lies? And, Mr. Foreign Policy Expert made a major boo-boo with his whole rewriting of the Hezbollah, Lebanon, Syria connection. He lied about the cost of the war in Afghanistan vs. Iraq, and the remarks by General McKiernan. And he said McCain hadn't been a 'maverick' on Iraq? Really? I think Donald Rumsfeld and G.W. Bush would argue with that. Not to mention his stance on torture and Gitmo. What a maroon.

Biden lied about McCain's health care coverage plan raising taxes on workers. He just happened to leave out the part about tax credits to offset expenses. Biden lied about McCain being soft on regulation - really, Joe? Did you hit your head on the way into the debate? McCain was way out front on the whole approaching disaster of Fannie/Freddie but was brushed off by the Democrats. Any coincidence that McCain has only received under $22,000 from those outfits in all his years serving in Congress yet Obama has received over $126,000 in the short time he has been there?

The arrogance of the progressives (socialists) and the brazen cheerleading of the national media to insure this team of Obama/Biden is elected is a true testament to the decline of common sense in today's political arena. How sad. The least qualified presidential candidate in my lifetime - even Jimmy Carter had been a governor - has used old time socialist 'organizing' techniques and the sheeple continue to chant and clap.

Sarah Palin is bashed as though she was the top of the Republican ticket. John McCain is a man of honor, integrity and humility. Those words are not descriptive of Barack Obama by any stretch of the imagination. Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama by the varied experience she brings to the ticket.

Sarah Palin, just a couple of years younger than Obama, comes from completely different life experiences. While Obama was enjoying his life at the most exclusive prep school in Hawaii, Palin was attending public schools. While attending her public high school, she became a star athlete. I think this is where her leadership path began. She has the calm determination of an athlete. She doesn't wilt under pressure. She clearly loves competition.

Palin is a happy warrior. Like McCain. She shows grace under pressure and people connect with her. She sounds like America. No western twang to ridicule, no southern accent to mock, no eastern accent to sound snobbish. She sounds like my stepdaughter in Indianapolis.

Palin competed in athletics in high school, beauty pagaents for college scholarship money, married her high school sweetheart ( a man who has native bloodlines), operated a small business with him, joined the PTA, was elected to City Council, a star on the state governing board for energy, elected Mayor of Wasilla, then Governor of Alaska. All while raising 5 children with her husband. She does it all in high heels. And lipstick.

Mock her start in the PTA all you want. As a mom who was active for 12 years in those organizations and a former school president, I can tell you that those committee assignments are not for the faint of heart. I'll bet on a PTA member over a community organizer any day.

So, who's out of touch? The other ticket has a VP candidate who has been in elected office since he was 29 years old. He was brought on the ticket to provide beef to the bones of Obama. Did you notice the irony in Biden's remark that Obama has promised him he'll be in on all the big meetings and listen to his opinions? You mean like the Bush/Cheney relationship so easily ridiculed by these open minded progressives?

Mr. Ordinary American, Biden, had to be corrected by Palin on the "Drill Baby Drill" chant. Biden also lied about his "long time" support of offshore drilling. As he opposed it he called it 'raping' the Outer Continental Shelf', as has been pointed out by Rick Moran at RightWing Nuthouse.

Seems 36 years in the Senate has not been quite enough for Biden to understand the big picture of events. At National Review, Jim Geraghty mentioned that the restaurant Biden referred to in Wilmington that was to show how common a man he is, hasn't been open for decades. "Maybe the senator was too busy conferring with imaginary French liberators of Lebanon to visit his constituency."

Sarah Palin makes me smile. You betcha.

This is EXCELLENT. What a marvelous piece. It's got me excited and optimistic again! SHe is ALL of that and you draw the differences so well.
Thanks a lot.

I'm hoping the campaign captures all of the fantastic points you've brought out in this piece. WHY DON'T they? It's almost as if they're afraid to SPEAK OUT. Alinsky is hideously dangerous and Obama's following his handbook to a T.

Please see Mustang's excellent piece on his site...he quotes a paragraph on Alinsky which'll make your hair curl.

Also, I'm glad you enjoyed An American Carol; we went to see it last night but events forced us back home (Car trouble, etc.)...will try to see it very soon. can't wait.!! and, again, thanks for your encouragement on my sarah speech.

yes, indeed, great post Karen..

it truly is sickening how people have all but crucified her.

the trouble is... with Biden's lies... people watching the debate will believe those lies and not bother to question... or do the research...

I've been waiting to hear your thoughts, Karen! Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air. Bruce and I are so excited about this election because of her! It's hard to see how the media beats up on her and takes things out of context. Yes, sometimes she misstates things, but she's straight forward, and I am so impressed with her ability to reach out and find common ground -- even during the debate! God bless her for being willing to put herself out there and still keep a smile on her face. You always hit the nail on the head!

The gender bigotry used by the Libs to piss all over Governor Palin is shocking.

Well done on a great post Karen. The media's incessant love-in with the progressive side is beginning to really disturb me. I feel it's simply not enough to highlight this on our blog, mine, yours and the great many others out there devoted to the conservative and/or Republican cause. I am trying to look outside of the box, as the challenge extends beyond the boundaries of politics, it's about community and society in the form of culture and ideological wars of a kind that conservatives are presently losing. This is evidenced by "the brazen cheerleading of the national media' and media abroad in addition to the steady stream of progressive/Liberal nonesense within our schools and academia. If you get a chance have a look at my Oct 6 post, "The Roots of PC and the Anti-American Liberal mind-set".

Oh, and Palin is good!

Palin is a happy warrior.

That's an apt description.

Amazing how the media has "shaped the battlespace", and are attempting to influence perception. Just as they have done with Bush and Reagan are stupid; Ford is clumsy. Why didn't SNL poke fun of Biden's factual flubs? Why only Palin's?

Despicable!

By way of Hugh Hewitt, from Instapundit:

A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: "Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

I caught Palin's rally in Florida this am on Fox, she is hitting her stride. She is well spoken, engaging, and endearing. If they keep her out there, McCain can win this.
